Bursa Ataturk Sports Center
Bursa Ataturk Sport Center is a competition proposal for a new sports venue that would be built in Bursa in the same place where a well-known architect Orhan Sahinler’s sport hall. The area has a potential to connect the historical Kultur Park and new public park that has been built at the same place with the removed football stadium. Within the scope of this context, the project is investigating the remembrance of the old sport hall building and the memory of the old football stadium while trying to be a pedestrian passage to connect the green values of the area.
The architectural language carries a clean tectonic approach with beige stone materials which is found locally at the region. We tried to create two blocks that can be perceived from parks and a courtyard in between to be used from the interior of the buildig. We ve also tried to create a level of visibility to the play fields from the exterior to enhance the outdoor spatial experience.
Spatial organization relies on positioning the swimming pool and basketball field onto different levels to account the slope of the land while benefitting from the opportunity to create seperate entrances to each of them.
Project Period: 2020 / Area: 3500 m² Location: Bursa
